I love using my essential oils in the shower! The water, heat and steam from the shower creates this wonderfully relaxing space when you add an essential oil to it. You can totally add a drop to your shower floor as you’re stepping in, but I find the aroma doesn’t last very long.

That’s where these shower pods come in! They’ll hold onto your essential oil aroma for longer while you shower!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 tbsp arrowroot powder
  • Essential oils – I love Breathe, Balance, or Citrus Bliss
  • Silicone mold – I like this one best because it makes a larger pod that takes longer to dissolve, you could also use one like this

Instructions:

Combine baking soda, water and arrowroot powder together. Once combined, press into the silicone mold and allow it to dry overnight or until they pop out of the mold easily.

I prefer keeping my shower pods unscented until I am ready to use them. That way, the pods have a strong, fresh aroma and can last a little longer. Add 2-4 drops of your favorite essential oil to the pod, then set in the shower, away from the main stream of water for it to slowly dissolve.

You can add the essential oils directly the mixture when you’re making them. This would be great to do if you are going to use them quickly or are giving them away as gifts! Add 15-20 drops of essential oil to the mixture.

Essential Oils to Add

  • Balance: grounding blend, helps you center yourself, relax, clear your mind, get you going on the right foot to tackle the day or have a relaxing night’s sleep
  • Breathe: this is a respiratory blend, it helps open up your airways especially if you’re feeling under the weather or dealing with seasonal discomfort
  • Citrus Bliss or Wild Orange: an invigorating, happy, sunshiney, wake-up in a positive mood oil
